Upper Ferntree Gully Football Netball Club at Kings Park is in desperate need of new facilities to cater for the demand of female participation in sports and its growth well into the future.
If elected, a Matthew Guy Government will contribute $500,000 towards the upgrade of much-needed facilities for the club, including separate female toilets and change rooms.
Upper Ferntree Gully Football Netball Club has grown rapidly over the last few years and only the Liberal Nationals will support local sports clubs instead of spending $225 million on Etihad Stadium like the Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:
“John Schurink has been doing extensive work in the local community to support the growth at Kings Park and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“Sports clubs are a vital part to the health and wellbeing of growing communities and this upgrade will help increase participation in sport and create a high level sporting facility in the Upper Ferntree Gully area.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Monbulk, John Schurink:
“There’s nothing fair about handing taxpayer money over to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium when we don’t have adequate sports facilities here for Kings Park.
“Upper Ferntree Gully Football Netball Club has made a huge contribution to female participation in local community sport and it’s only fair that they receive the support they deserve.”
“If I am elected to represent Monbulk, I’ll continually fight for our hardworking community groups and sporting clubs and will continue to deliver for them.”
